today is the day for the ugliest project!
i will post only this one picture. I was doing a bit of de-stashing and this is what i came up with. the red is debbie bliss alpaca silk aran. the grey is zealana merino cashmere chunky.
the only redeeming quality about this baby bonnet is that the pattern comes from one of the best knitting books out there:
the operative question is: what did we learn? what did we learn about de-stashing? well, a few things, actually:
- aran and chunky are different weights of yarn. they should not be combined in a fashion only appropriate for yarns of the same weight;
- a lighter color should not be the contrasting color, especially on a project where you can see the darker color through the stitches of the lighter color, due to such standard requirements as picking up stitches;
- if you suspect something is going to turn out kinda wonky, stop knitting!
