mounds of snow and malabrigo

have i told you how i have a bit of a thing for the presidents? i mean, not for THE president...well, wait, yes, i do have that too..but, what i'm talking about here is a bit of historical fascination about the office of the president of the good 'ol us of a.  so, based on this interest of mine, i am strongly in favor of really getting out there and celebrating president's day, a much too under-rated holiday.  this president's day was quite fabbity fab, because i spent the weekend in dc:

and didn't even have any flight delays!  i got to spend some time with my family, and trudge around in the snow, which was quite silly, and slippery, and enjoyable.

but did i make good on my promises of casting on?  well, i got started on citron
and after a few false starts and a bit of hair twisting and lip-biting i just about finished the cowl i am test knitting

both of which projects are quite lovely in all their malabrigo splendor.  i did not, however, succeed in casting on all of my other lovely plans due to such troubling instances as (1) my day job, (2) not being able to find the right size needles, (3) packing at the last minute, and (4) being too lazy to do gauge swatches.
